The description of the Stronglifts program is somewhat dated. The assistance work work has been made optional, inverted rows have been replace by barbell rows, and most importantly, trainees are told to switch to 3 sets of 5 from 5 sets of 5 once they start stalling in their progress.... At which point the program is enormously similar to "starting strength with rows instead of cleans".

The StrongLifts forums are not only closed, they cost about $10 a month. Because non members cannot see what goes on in the forums, it is hard for an outsider to tell if the subscription content it worth it. However, I briefly held a subscription, and it is basically an active weightlifting forum with articles and videos much like you can find on Gubernatrix for free. Furthermore, getting on Mehdi's "waiting list" exposes you to email marketing for affiliate deals that Mehdi promotes.

When evaluating a "guru", I strongly suggest that the consumer contrast the quality and level of maturity found in Rippetoe and Kilgore's book "Starting Strength" against that in Hadim's "Stronglifts Report".

Furthermore, there have been complaints about the StrongLifts management neglecting female lifters (at one time trying to brand itself as a "place for men"). Indeed, one need only contrast the attitude towards female trainees found in the Rippetoe's body of work (and frankly, that of most working strength trainers today) against that of Mr. Hadim.
