Hi folks!
Spring has truly sprung in London, the clocks have gone forward so in Britain at least it is now officially “summertime”.
The percipent among you will have noticed that there was no newsletter in March. This was because I was crazy busy with a succession of events and competitions, so I decided to save up all the news for the April newsletter.
Springtime special offers on kettlebells
To celebrate the lighter evenings and Easter chocolate (these things make me happy), I’ve sliced the price of the 12kg, 16kg, 24kg and 32kg kettlebells in the shop, so pick one up while you can!
And in honour of my Ladies Who Lift workshops (see below) I have also cut the price of my women’s starter kettlebell set (6kg, 8kg and 12kg), so ladies do take advantage!
Ladies Who Lift, this Sunday 11th April!!
I have been giving a series of women-only workshops on free weights. With my colleague Ade, we teach you correct technique, show you how to set things up and give you the confidence to start training in the free weights area at your gym.
The first workshop was a great success, with participants all having fun, learning a lot and feeling empowered to take their free weight training further. The next workshop is in central London on Sunday 11th April. Do come along or encourage friends to attend, there are still places left. Click here to sign up.
Squatitude
Want it? Come along to my squat masterclass on 17th April at Crossfit London and get some! This will be a detailed three hour session where we will look at all aspects of squat technique in detail. A great opportunity to boost your squat numbers in a supportive atmosphere – and maybe get a PR! I’ve been told that there are still a few places available so get in there while you can.
Women’s Strength Symposium
Gubernatrix.co.uk hosted an online symposium on women’s strength training on 8th March. It was an amazing experience and I’m still processing all the incredible content that was produced. Thank you so much to everyone who took part!
Of course I want to take the ideas further and I will keep you updated on this. In the meantime, you can still read all the material here.
World of Gubes
I have had several meets (competitions) since we last spoke, including the British Drug Free Powerlifting Championships and two olympic weightlifting meets. I’m fairly happy with what I’ve achieved overall but still fired up to improve. My next event looks to be the Crossfit Reading/FK.UK Strength & Power Invitational on 5th June, so training will start to include strongman elements. Lots of fun!

[...] Folks, just want to remind you about my newsletter as I’ve just sent out the April edition. [...]
Hi Sally,
Re “pick one up while you can!”, wouldn’t it be more optimistic to choose a weight one can’t yet pick up? O
Re spring, if you don’t mind recycled, though spring is about recycling, I answered the call from your countrywoman MC for spring haiku. I’ll point the way if you don’t already know.
Cheers,
Steven
