Hi folks!
Well the recession doesn’t seem to have dampened anyone’s spirits for seasonal shopping. The streets of London are packed and glittering! There’s been a similar upsurge in the gubernatrix shop. My DVDs are selling out fast and I am down to my very last copies of Bodytribe’s excellent Strength Rituals and Dan John’s DVDs so if you want one soon, get in there quick!
Get 15% off when you buy the following DVDs together:
* Dan John’s Everything’s Over My Head and Bodytribe’s Strength Rituals
* Dan John’s Everything’s Over My Head and A Philosophy of Strength Training
Either of these combos will keep you busy, entertained and training for a long while to come. Click the links above to read more details about each DVD and why they are so fabulous.
Dan John Q&A
I’m stoked to announce that Dan John has agreed to do a Q&A with readers of gubernatrix.co.uk. This is a fantastic opportunity to have your question answered by one of the best strength coaches on the planet. Send in your question using this form by 11th December and the answers will be posted later in the month.
Dan says he’s looking forward to the questions, so make ‘em good!
FK.UK/Crossfit Reading Strength & Power Invitational aftermath
Folks, some of you will have read my latest post about this fantastic event a few weeks ago. It’s basically ‘strongman’ for functional fitness fans and it doesn’t matter what size or sex you are. There’s been a lot of buzz about the event on my site and on the forums so you can expect more events like this in the future. At the moment there are plans for a similar event in May/June 2010 so keep your eyes peeled for details.
Deadlift workshop
My good friend Chet Morjaria is giving a deadlift workshop at Crossfit London on Sunday 31st January 2010. If you’re struggling with a plateau, don’t know whether your technique is spot on, or just want more confidence in the king of all strength exercises, this workshop is for you. Suitable for beginners and intermediates and a snip at £30! See the details here.
Inspiring story from the Blackboard Gym
I’ve got many reasons to be grateful to Andrew Stemler of Crossfit London, who has always been a big supporter of yours truly. The new Crossfit London box, known as the Blackboard Gym, is a great place to train and hang out. If you’re in London and want to give Crossfit a try, I recommend it. This week one Crossfitter, Kate Pankhurst, has written her story for the Crossfit London website. It’s an inspiring fat-to-thin tale and a good read. Check it out!
World of Gubes
My last powerlifting meet of the year is this weekend, my regional qualifier for next year’s Nationals. I’m looking forward to the event as it will be great to catch up with people, but I’m also looking forward to a bit of a break and getting some of my fitness back!
Late December I will be attending Dan John’s two-day workshop at Informed Performance in Dublin. Of course I’m really looking forward to this one and I expect to come back a better and more inspired athlete.
