Hi folks,
The strength season is well and truly underway and there are some fantastic, inspirational events coming up.
Ladies Who Lift
After the success of the Ladies Who Lift beginner weight training workshops last year, the format is back – but this time as a 6-week course, running at a central London gym. We will cover all the big lifts (squat, deadlift, press etc) and key assistance exercises, along with diet information and strategies to help you reach your weight/fat loss goals.
So if you are interested, register here. If this is not for you but you know someone who might be interested, do send them along to http://strengthambassadors.com/courses/ladieswholift to find out more.

DVDs in stock – Olympic weightlifting and kettlebells
I’m currently stocking three fantastic DVDs that represent an opportunity to be coached by some of the best in the business. Glenn Pendlay’s new Olympic Weightlifting Techniques is flying off the shelves, and I also have more of Dan John’s Olympic Lifting for Beginners and his Perfecting Your Kettlebell Form.
I must say, I re-watched the Kettlebell Form DVD the other day and there is so much good stuff in it. Not surprising, given that Dan John is a Senior RKC (there are only a handful in the world). It’s not a ‘here’s everything about the kettlebell’ story, it’s a ‘here’s the really good stuff that you should know about the kettlebell’ story. So if you have some familiarity with kettlebells but want a deeper knowledge of the really worthwhile elements, this is the DVD for you.
Grand Prix Fitness Expo – 19-20 March, London
Excitement is building towards this two-day strongman/powerlifting/bodybuilding event at Excel, London.
“Probably the best strongman competition ever held on British soil” – Terry Hollands
Many of the strongman events will be the heaviest ever – such as the farmers walk and the atlas stones. Watch an interview with Terry Hollands about this event here.
Also just announced is the fact that WPC/GPC World Powerlifting Champion Chris Jenkins will be guest lifting at the Expo. The Welsh dragon will be attempting to break several squat world records, so come down and support!

Olympic Sports Gym Expo, Ashton-under-Lyne – 17th April 2011
Olympic Sports Gym (OSG) near Manchester will be holding its first strength expo this April. Celebrating all the strength sports, there will be exhibitions of olympic weightlifting and powerlifting, as well as a strongman competition and some open challenges for anyone to enter on the day.
It’s no exaggeration to say that OSG represents the beating heart of strongman in the UK and this expo is a great idea. Should be a very entertaining day out! Put the date in your diary.

UK Strength & Power Series – summer 2011
Here’s something you can all have a go at! The Strength & Power competition originated by FKUK and Crossfit Reading has now grown into its own series – the last event was so oversubscribed that it was clearly only a matter of time!
As usual, it is a full day of strongman-inspired events, testing all elements of strength and power with all weight classes catered for. There are now three qualifiers around the country, making it a more realistic prospect for many people to attend, with the grand final later in the year.

World of Gubes
I’ve been busy recently setting up my new coaching business, Strength Ambassadors. My new website is here – still needs a few tweaks but is basically open for business! I’m pretty excited about it. Looking forward to putting on some great coaching events over the next year.
Bye for now,
Gubernatrix
